Why glass in a theatre foyer
The drama theatre foyer has stone columns and parquet flooring, and a solid shaft would hide them from many viewpoints. Through a glass shaft the columns are visible from any angle. The car has tinted glass walls and glass doors in a satin stainless steel frame, so in the foyer the lift reads as a separate structure.
We chose a grey smoked shade because it works well with the stone. The shaft is also glass, on a steel frame. The stops are labelled as is customary in a theatre: -1, 1 and 2, with the main floor numbered 1.
Machine, controller and car
- maGO machineGearless, made in-house by MP. Its sound power level is below 44 dBA, which matters in a building where machinery must not be heard during a performance.
- ecoGO controllerThe controller has automatic rescue. If the power fails, the car travels to the nearest stop on its own and opens the doors.
- Murano carPanoramic car for 630 kg, 900 mm clear opening. Satin steel ceiling with L40 lights, G01 granite floor.
Construction works and installation
A panoramic lift in a working theatre needs more than installation of the lift itself: it also requires a frame, glazing and coordination with the building’s architecture. Our architect and crews handle this, and we take on the most complex projects on a turnkey basis together with MP. More on the Turnkey page.
The project has not been handed over yet, so for now we show a rendering and a photo of the foyer. Photos of the finished lift will appear here once the project is completed. Your project may have different stops, glass and frame; this car is just an example to start the conversation.
