MP panoramic lifts
A panoramic, or glass, lift is a lift with a glass car and often a glass shaft as well; at MP it is ordered as a version of a model. A glass car and shaft look good in a lobby or atrium, and people find a lift they can see more comfortable to use. First we decide what will be visible from the car and how the lift will look from the hall, and then we calculate the dimensions.

Panoramic lift for the drama theatre in Ivano-Frankivsk
For the drama theatre we are preparing a 630 kg panoramic MP lift with three stops. The car will be glass with tinted walls, and the glass doors will be set in a stainless steel frame. The machine is a gearless maGO, and the ecoGO controller has an automatic rescue device (ARD).

The foyer has stone columns, parquet flooring and full-height windows. A solid shaft would split this hall in two, while a glass one keeps it fully visible. Tinted glass makes the car less conspicuous against the columns.
We built this lift in the configurator, also with three stops, and you can view it from the inside there.

Rectangular car: one, two or three glass walls
The more glass, the more you can see from the car, but the less room there is for the panel, mirror and handrail. The diagrams show the car from above: glass is light, solid walls are grey and the doors are at the bottom.

Rendering Three glass walls
In the Murano car, the left, rear and right walls are glazed almost to full height.

Rendering Walk-through
The left and right walls are glass, with entrances at the front and rear. This car is needed in buildings where the exits at different stops face different sides.
-

Rendering Two glass walls
The rear and right walls are glass; the left wall is solid stainless steel. The solid wall leaves room for the panel and handrail, while the car still has a view on two sides.

Only the rear wall is glass, so the car is more enclosed but still has a view outside. This option can be built in the configurator, where the walls are selected individually.

Six standard panoramic car shapes
MP lists six standard types of panoramic car. All of them have a clear internal car height of 2100 mm, satin stainless steel frames, a tubular handrail on the glass and a granite floor. The manufacturer does not publish dimensions for these types, so we take them from the drawing for your project.
-

Rendering Murano
A square car with flat glass. Three walls are glazed almost to full height; this is the simplest of the six shapes.
-

Rendering Baccarat
A polygonal car, also with flat glass. Its facets make it look less like a rectangular box.
-

Rendering Bohemia
A semicircular car with glass curved through 180 degrees. The rear of the car is arc-shaped.
-

Rendering Sowerby
Also a semicircular car with 180-degree glass. It differs from Bohemia in the details of the car and its cladding, as the images show.
-

Rendering Sevres
A car with smooth glass over 270 degrees, almost cylindrical in shape. Only the door side has no glass.
-

Rendering San Luis
A round car with smooth 360-degree glass. The round MP Hydro at the Kraków Opera has this type of car.

For round and semicircular cars, an engineer calculates the dimensions for your project. Round car in 3D, semicircular car in 3D.
Ready-made options with descriptions: Murano car for an atrium, tinted car, round San Luis car, semicircular Bohemia car.
Clear and tinted car glass
The standard glass is clear, and tinting of the car and door glass is ordered separately. You choose the colour, and we confirm the shade with a sample before it goes into production.
- ClearStandard glass that lets you see everything, both by day and in the evening.

- Grey smokedMakes the car less conspicuous against the hall. This is the option we chose for the drama theatre.

- BronzeA warm tint that suits wood and stone. We confirm with a sample whether it is available for your lift.

This is a rendering: the tint is overlaid on a photo of the foyer. A sample will show the actual glass colour.
Doors
The glass doors are made by the Spanish company Fermator. The glass is set in a satin stainless steel frame, and the clear opening in the 630 kg configuration is 900 mm. Door tinting is priced separately from the car walls. The E 120 or EI 60 fire rating applies to solid MP landing doors and does not extend to glass doors.
Tinted glass in 3DA steel frame instead of a concrete shaft
In a concrete shaft a glass car cannot be seen, so a panoramic lift usually needs a steel frame. There are two options: the manufacturer’s modular structure or a frame that we build.

| MP frame | The manufacturer’s modular structure. The enclosure can be made of clear, smoked or frosted glass, or of other materials. |
|---|---|
| Our frame | We build the attached steel-frame shaft and the glazing with our own crews, together with the pit and headroom. |

MP panoramic lifts around the world
These projects were carried out by the manufacturer itself, and the data is taken from its materials. We show them only as examples.

How we choose a panoramic lift
Panoramic is a version of a model, not a separate model. So we first determine which lift the building needs, and then how it will look.
- LocationThe lift can stand in an atrium, in a stairwell or on a facade. This determines whether the shaft will be an attached structure.
- ModelWe select MP GO, MP Mobi or, for round glass, MP Hydro.
- Shape and glassWe decide how many walls to glaze, what glass to use and what will be visible from the car.
- FrameThe frame can be the manufacturer’s or ours. The shaft enclosure is made of clear, smoked or frosted glass.

Questions about panoramic lifts
What shaft dimensions does a glass car need?
MP does not publish shaft tables for panoramic cars, because the dimensions depend on the type of glass, doors and frame. We take them from the drawing for your project, so we first survey the site free of charge and then give you the figures.
Can a panoramic lift be installed outside a building?
Yes, a panoramic lift can be installed outside, next to the facade. The manufacturer designed MP Mobi for outdoor operation; for other models an engineer checks protection against moisture and temperature separately. We have already built an attached glass shaft on a facade in Chernivtsi: the shaft and installation there are ours, while the lift is from another manufacturer, not MP. We start such a project with a site survey, and then our architect manages it.
Are glass doors fire-rated?
The glass doors of the panoramic lift in our configurations are not fire-rated. The E 120 or EI 60 rating applies to solid MP landing doors and does not extend to glass doors. If the building design requires fire-rated doors, we resolve this before the order is placed.
Which models can be ordered with a panoramic car?
Panoramic finishes can be ordered as an option for MP GO and MP Mobi (except the 6XL series). The round cars in Kraków and Manila are hydraulic; in Kraków it is an MP Hydro.
How much does tinting cost?
Tinting of the car and door glass is an option at extra cost. It is priced separately for the walls and for each door, and we will quote the amount together with the rest of the cost after the site survey.
